聖なる秘湯。【再訪】福島県 聖石温泉 紫に変色する鉄泉のお話。 Sacred and hidden hot spring. Iron onsen that turns purple.

2回目の聖石温泉に行ってきました。

こちらは福島県田村市にある鉄泉の日帰り温泉。
黄金色に輝くにごり湯が特徴的です。

詳しくは以前の動画をご参照ください。

今回はご主人に聖石温泉の温泉の主成分について
詳しく説明していただきました。

温泉の主成分は鉄分で茶褐色。
湯の中は濁っていて全く見えないが、源泉は無色透明。
空気に触れるとこんな茶褐色になるそうです。

それを証明するのが、お茶に含まれる「カテキン」。
鉄分を多く含む源泉に茶カテキンを少し足すと
なんと紫色に。
時間が経つと、だんだん濃くなっていきます。
この紫色は、カテキン（タンニン）に鉄が加えられた
「タンニン鉄」に変化した状態です。

なんだか科学的で面白い実験でした。

湯は筋肉痛や腰痛などに効能があり、
また鉄は口より皮膚からの方がよく吸収するので
貧血防止にもなります。

まだまだ温泉について学ぶことがたくさんありそうです。

This was my second visit to Hijiri-ishi Onsen.

This is an iron spring day spa located in Tamura City, Fukushima Prefecture.
It is characterized by its golden-colored nigori hot spring water.

This time, the owner explained to me about the main ingredients of the hot spring at Hijiri-ishi Onsen
He explained in detail.

The main ingredient of the hot spring is iron, giving it a brownish-brown color.
The water is cloudy and completely invisible, but the source is clear and colorless.
When it comes into contact with air, it turns this brownish color.

This is proved by the “catechins” contained in tea.
When a little tea catechin is added to the iron-rich spring water
What a purple color!
As time goes by, it becomes darker and darker.
This purple color is caused by the addition of iron to catechins (tannins).
This is the state of “iron tannin”.

It was an interesting and somewhat scientific experiment.

The hot water is effective for muscle pain and back pain.
Iron is also better absorbed through the skin than through the mouth.
It also helps prevent anemia.

There is still much more to learn about hot springs.
